Mr. Cyrus Guzder , Chairman & Managing Director of AFL Group

Mr. Cyrus Guzder is the Chairman & Managing Director of AFL Group consisting of India's largest
companies in Logistics, Courier and Business Travel. Although an industry leader, Mr. Guzder is
better known for his association with several causes of public importance and outspoken views on
issues of public concern and probity in social life. He is also actively involved with management
education and is a visiting faculty at the leading European business school. After having received an
Honors Masters Degree from Cambridge University in Economics & Oriental Studies (which included
Sanskrit and Indian Archaeology), he began his career with ICICI. He joined AFL in 1971,which was
formerly known as Airfreight Ltd., and has been the Chairman & Managing Director of the company
since 1985.Under his stewardship, AFL is credited to have pioneered the courier and subsequently
the logistics industry in India. Mr. Guzder is also on the Board of several other well known
companies viz., Tata Honeywell, Alfa Laval, BP (India) Ltd, Great Eastern Shipping Co. and Mahindra
Holidays. He is also the Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Ireland in Mumbai.
Mr. Guzder is also known for his keen interest in aviation. He was a Director on the Board of Air
India. He is presently the Chairman of the CII's National Committee on Civil Aviation. Outside of his
business interests, Mr. Guzder has been active in the area of heritage conservation. He set up the
first chapter in Bombay of the Indian Heritage Society and INTACH. As a member of the Mumbai
City Heritage Conservation Committee of BMC, he has played an active role in conservation of the
heritage buildings and precincts of Mumbai. He is also a Trustee of the Prince of Wales Museum.
What distinguishes Mr. Guzder from other industry leaders is his activist role in several spheres of
public life. He co-founded the Bombay Environment Action Group, which has successfully fought
several public interest litigations for the preservation of environment in Mumbai. He has also
championed a movement against encroachment on natural habitat in Mahableshwar and Matheran.
